My role
I am part of the core team for GoToWebinar Web Design Library. My work includes defining foundational principles, reviewing and creating components and evangelizing library usage.
About the project
It was time for a new pattern library!
Our aging pattern library was leading to designers drifting away from it in the quest for better, more modern interaction patterns. Engineering effort spent on new features using the "duct-taped" dated components and UI patterns was adding more and more technical debt to the products.
Pattern library team started as a part-time project for a couple of designers on the team. I got on board the project a while it was underway.
My role in the initiative was to work with the team to achieve key milestones critical to Library release and eventual adoption within the organization. So far we have been able to meet the initial milestones. With an early version of the web library ready, have been able to secure "buy-in" from organization leadership and are now focusing on testing and refining the component designs and building the components with the help of engineering teams.
