Recapit
About Recapit
An iPhone app that captures highlights from your in-person meetings that can be easily shared for reference or collaboration.
My role
As Product and Design lead, working with a team of 4 highly motivated and very talented team members I was responsible for the product and design direction.

About the project
Recapit started from a problem statement - " People need an easy way to capture information from an in-person meeting so decisions can be available later." The problem statement came from a research project undertaken by our UX team at Citrix that included observations from contextual interviews of 47 people at work.
Primary target users were Consultants and Project Managers who were looking for an easy way to capture information from an in-person meeting so meeting notes and key decisions can be made available later for reference or to share with people who were not able to attend the meeting.
Although later during Beta we found academicians, students and journalists also signing up for Beta and using the app for taking notes.
Noteworthy journalist and academic user groups
- Journalists at Santa Barbara Independent using our app for taking notes during their interviews.
- University of California, Santa Barbara, California collaborated with us for one of their courses where Recapit helped students document their findings and share with the class.
Key steps in the process included
- Contextual Interviews
- Brainstorming for solution ideas.
- Sketching and Wire-framing.
- Validating and perfecting the solution using Moderated Interviews and Diary Studies.
- Building an iPhone app with companion Web UI for sharing meeting information.
- Launching a limited public Beta that got 100 Monthly active users.
- After a successful Beta we shared the findings back with the company and the project formed the basis for Citrix's roadmap into building transcription capabilities for the key meeting product GoToMeeting.
Sidenote: For Recapit we built and patented technology that would listen for pauses in conversations to effortlessly capture noteworthy audio snippets from the meeting to transcribe.
